Hen Boarding Terms and Conditions

for Hen boarding at Hedgerow Henporium.
Please read these carefully. By making a booking you agree to the following terms and conditions.

Check In Procedure

You can deliver your chickens between the following hours by arrangement

  1. 9am to 5pm (we will need to know your drop off time so we can make sure we are around)
  2. Please allow 30 minutes for any health checks and handovers to be carried out
  3. Please deliver your birds in a suitable carrier or dog cage. We don’t have space to store these so you will need to take it away with you.
  4. If your birds show any signs of respiratory illness we cannot accept them.

General Hen boarding terms and Conditions

All boarding hens must be delivered in a fit and healthy condition. They will be inspected upon arrival to make sure that they are healthy.

If we have said that we are happy to accept any hens which have ongoing health issues we will honour this, but we take no responsibility for anything that may happen because of the health concern. If we think the bird needs to see a vet, we will take the bird to a vet and the cost will be passed onto you. We will not accept any responsibility for any deaths whilst in our care as it could be as a result of a latent condition which could not be foreseen.

Please note that we cannot under any circumstances accept any birds which are showing any signs of a respiratory illness.

Our Minimum Fees

We charge a minimum fee of £30 per booking.

The dates you have booked are fixed in our calendar. If you wish to extend the stay then the relevant extra days will be charged at the rate relating to your coop of choice. It will be either £8.50 or £10.50 per day.

If the birds are collected early, there will be no refund – payment for the full agreed stay is due before arrival.

Home visits by Hedgerow Henporium

Payment Terms

This will be taken at the time of booking. Each booking requires the days to be booked and also your mileage. This is worked out using Google Maps from CH66 4RB to your address.

Visits required

Please book the days you need us to visit. Our visits are once per day and will be at any time during the day. You do not have to book consecutive days if you don’t think is it needed.

Mileage Terms

Mileage is charged for each visit at 45p per mile per journey for two journeys (there and back from CH66 4RB). Please use Google Maps to work out how many miles are from your postcode to ours. Add those as miles per visit. For example if you live 10 miles away please add 10 in the mileage box. It will calculate using 90p per visit because of the double journey. If you are unsure how this works then please get in touch and we will help.

The Price Includes

Checking feed, water and collecting any eggs for you. This is done on every booked visit. We will also check their health. A pre-visit is required for new customers so you can brief us on your setup. Ask us to make an appointment.

What It Does Not Include

We cannot be there to open and close up your hens, as mornings and evenings are our busiest times so we highly recommend that you automate this with something like a Chickenguard. Other suitable door closers are Omlet, VSB, Chuxaway or Brinsea. Our coops use VSB and Chickenguard and we rate them very highly. We sell Chickenguards, so we can show you a working demo unit if you need to see one in action.

The price does not include vet treatment if we feel it is required. This cost will be passed onto you. Any unfortunate deaths which may occur are beyond our scope and we cannot accept any responsibility for these. We endeavour to give your hens the benefit of our expert knowledge, but sometimes illness can be unforeseen. Any hens which are suffering due to illness will be humanely put to sleep.

If you cannot get an automatic door opener then we recommend that you choose the boarding option here instead.
